'shamefully conventional photograph...Claudia... 'shamefully conventional photographs of Paul Scott's work'? Hmm... For some my photography of Cumbrian Blue(s) artworks on a black ground seems pretty radical - to go on typical comments from 'craft' curators/mags - who bizarrely seem to prefer white plates photographed on white or pastel backgrounds... I do actually like my work to be seen in isolation so that the graphic interventions can be viewed without surrounding distractions... but if you mean you'd like my objects and assemblages placed in some sort of domestic(?) arrangement or context - that could also be very good. However, unless the photography is specifically commissioned for the writing I would be very uneasy. Sufficient time is needed to create a good photo-shoot and magazines like CR currently request images at very short notice - without paying for them either... they also crop out backgrounds and put white plates on white paper (p.42)

Anyway, its good to hear that changes are afoot and CR is going to move into the 21st century - its about time...Paul Scotthttp://web.mac.com/cumbrianbluesnoreply@blogger.com
